The Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) announced Tuesday that President George W. Bush would be the keynote speaker at the Opening General Session of the AFP Annual Conference. More than 6,500 treasury and finance professionals will gather for the event, which will be held October 18-21, 2015 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

President Bush was sworn into office on January 20, 2001 and served two consecutive terms. Following the tragic terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, he led the most dramatic reorganization of the federal government since the beginning of the Cold War, reforming the intelligence community and establishing the Department of Homeland Security.

Since leaving office, President Bush has been involved in many charitable organizations, including the Bush Institute and a partnership with fellow ex-commander in chief President Bill Clinton to lead fundraising efforts to assist the people of Haiti in the wake of a devastating earthquake.

At this year’s AFP Annual Conference, President Bush will reflect on his time as the 43rd President of the United States, describing the responsibilities of the office, his experiences with other world leaders and the nature of public leadership. He will also share his thoughts on the most pressing issues and global risks facing the country today.
