Fed to Provide Faster Payments Updates

moneyThe Federal Reserve is hosting two webinars next week that center on its strategy for speeding up the U.S. payments system. Treasury and finance professionals are encouraged to tune in.

On September 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Fed will discuss the progress its Faster Payments Task Force has made thus far. The webinar will cover how the task force came to be, and provide a look at its efforts to forge a safe, ubiquitous faster payments system. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the process and provide input.

The second webinar, held on September 18 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., will delve into more detail about the Faster Payments Task Force’s effort to define what a faster payments capability in the U.S. should be. The webinar will provide a glimpse of the process of developing faster payments effectiveness criteria and how it will be used. Attendees will be able to weigh in on the criteria debate.

“These webinars are beneficial in that they not only provides updates on what's going on, they also welcome participants to share insights,” said Magnus Carlsson, AFP’s manager of treasury and payments. “This is a great way to stay on top of what is going on in the future of payments.”
