Three takeaways from the past week:

  1. Corporate cash levels are expected to contract during the first quarter, reflecting building confidence in U.S. business conditions.
  2. Despite growing at a slower pace during December, U.S. business activity during the fourth quarter was robust.
  3. Home sales activity picked up during December, even as home supplies tightened.
