This highly interactive course deals with topics that are crucial to the treasury professionals based in the APAC region. The starting point is to provide a thorough understanding of the basics of foreign exchange, how to read the rates, apply forward points and perform currency conversions. This leads into the topic of managing risk and the tools APAC treasury professionals can use to do so. The course covers not just foreign exchange risk but also commercial and other types of risk.

The final topic is international payments, and it explains why cross-border payments and collections are still so inefficient and often prone to inexplicable delays and unexpected charges This session examines how payments are made, reviews the primary payment systems In the APAC region and then explores the ways in which payments and collections can be made more efficiently, including paper and electronic payments. Lastly the session discusses the more recent developments in the payment industry.

Michele Allman-Ward
Managing Partner, AWA Consulting, Inc.

Michèle Allman-Ward has 20+ years of banking experience includes senior positions with J.P. Morgan, Bankers Trust, Bank of Boston and Wells Fargo. Professional accreditations include the Certified Treasury Professional (CTP). She also obtained her Certificate in International Cash Management (CertICM) (with distinction) from the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) in the U.K. Her book "International Cash Management" is the manual used by the ACT in their certification program.

In 1996, Ms. Allman-Ward established Allman-Ward Associates, Inc. The company specializes in strategic planning, product and business unit development, training, project management, and market research with particular emphasis on international treasury management.
