Finance professional are no longer expected to only present the numbers and statements. Leadership is becoming more dependent on the finance team to provide thoughtful insights and decisions with the information they present.

This course focuses on critical thinking skills, financial data analysis, and systems thinking to improve value-added decision-making. Participants will be introduced to performing value-added financial data analysis with a focus on critically analyzing data versus naïve data gathering. Discuss the different methods utilized in the problem solving process with an emphasis on situation awareness and continuous evaluation. Participants will understand how to identify trends and “stories” in the data important for improved decision-making.

  • Determine the most effective ways to present conclusions and data analysis to specific audiences

  • Learn to professionally present data analysis and prepare reports that clearly communicate key messages

Luke Miller (002) Luke Miller, PhD
Associate Professor of Finance, Saint Anselm College

Luke Miller's teaching and research interests span all areas of business valuation to include financial planning, capital budgeting, replacement analysis, capital rationing, security analysis, and risk management. After attending the University of Virginia for his undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering, he served as an instructor and program manager in the U.S. Air Force. Completing his Masters and Ph.D. in Financial Engineering from Auburn University, Dr. Miller has served as a faculty member in the School of Business Administration at the University of San Diego and Fort Lewis College where he taught quantitative and financial economic courses.
