Chargebacks have surged in the United States following he transition to EMV chip cards. How does this compare to Europe, which has had EMV for years?




Carolyn Sweeney, Director of Global Business Development for Chargebacks911, discusses how Europe initially saw a surge in chargebacks after the implementation of EMV chip cards and terminals. Since that time, the majority of chargebacks have shifted from fraud-related issues to customer experiences issues. Sweeney also discusses how the eventual removal of the permanent account number (PAN) from cards is unlikely to have a major impact for merchants and consumers.
