Treasury and finance professionals, you’re used to dealing with fraud attempts. And as the host of AFP 2020, the most prestigious event in treasury and finance, we see it too.

Unethical fraudsters will try to convince you to book a room through them for our Conference, maybe to actually get you an inferior room outside the AFP room block. They may have an even more nefarious goal, such as stealing your credit card number and using it for fraudulent purposes.

Avoid this and book your hotel through our official AFP 2020 hotel block https://conference.afponline.org/hotel-travel. Avoid impostors such as http://afp.2020-conference.org/; this website was a fraudulent site based out of India and had no affiliation with AFP, our official housing company CMR or AFP 2020.

By the way—general housing for AFP 2020 doesn’t actually open until March 19 so if someone is already approaching you with a deal on AFP’s room block, it’s definitely a scam.

AFP has taken many steps to try to shut these bad actors down. Unfortunately, they hide behind proxy domain registrars that prevent us from dealing with them directly absent a subpoena. Instead, we have to file abuse claims with domain registrars, including those whose sole reason for existence is to mask the true ownership of a fraudulent domain.

In the meantime, just book directly through AFP. Again, general housing opens on March 19. Closer to the date, you’ll find the list of participating hotels here. Protect yourself, protect your money, and help us protect our conference, which year after year provides you with the best treasury and finance content out there. See you in Vegas.

If anyone who is not affiliated with AFP approaches you about booking a room, please contact Kristina Ottomanelli, AFP’s Director of Events, at [email protected].
