SpeakersBill Hu, PhD, CFA, CTP
Professor of Finance, Arkansas State University
As a recipient of the Excellence in Teaching award from the Neil Griffin College of Business at ASU, Dr. Hu keeps his classes current and relevant by reaching out to the finance industry onsite and online covering topics such as Revenue Forecasting, Financial Modeling, Integrated Financial Statements, Data Analytics and Visualization, Simulations, Big Data, and Excel. Over the years, he has trained thousands of finance professionals on these topics.
Dr. Hu's research includes pricing strategies, market microstructure, behavioral finance, etc. When writing doctoral essays in 2008, Dr. Hu applied machine learning (ML) to classify stock spam emails and disseminated the impacts of spam messages on financial markets in multiple research papers. Recently, he has started projects related to cryptocurrencies. Prior to the study of finance, Dr. Hu was a nanotechnologist and had a variety of scholarly articles and patents in the field of chemistry.
Luke Miller, PhD
Associate Professor of Finance, Saint Anselm College
Luke Miller's teaching and research interests span all areas of business valuation to include financial planning, capital budgeting, replacement analysis, capital rationing, security analysis, and risk management. After attending the University of Virginia for his undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering, he served as an instructor and program manager in the U.S. Air Force. Completing his Masters and Ph.D. in Financial Engineering from Auburn University, Dr. Miller has served as a faculty member in the School of Business Administration at the University of San Diego and Fort Lewis College where he taught quantitative and financial economic courses.
CTO & Founder, Acterys by Managility
Hesam Ziaei is the Chief Technology Officer at Managility Pty Ltd and has been involved in numerous business intelligence and financial planning projects since 2010. He designed and oversaw the development of a new relational OLAP planning system called Acterys. Acterys. Hesam has worked with different planning, business intelligence products and relational databases such as Jedox, IBM TM1, Microsoft Analysis Services, Microstrategy, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle databases, Microsoft Power BI etc. As a lead designer and architect of planning and reporting solutions, he designed and helped implement numerous budgeting, forecasting and reporting solutions for large business.
Hesam has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining and has been involved in number of research projects at University of New South Wales centering around Artificial Intelligence and recommender systems.
Bryan Lapidus, FP&A

Bryan Lapidus has more than 20 years of experience in the corporate FP&A and treasury space working at organizations like American Express, Fannie Mae and private equity-owned companies. At AFP he is the staff subject matter expert on FP&A, which includes designing content to meet the needs of the profession and helping keep members current on developing topics. Bryan also manages the FP&A Advisory Council that acts as a voice to align AFP with the needs of the profession.
