The University of Maryland College of Education and the Association for Financial Professionals, are co-sponsoring a Congressional Briefing on the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math literacy (STEM Education) for all employees whether they work with traditionally high tech companies or not. Effective science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education is critical in today's global economy, and the STEM Education Caucus, co-chaired by Vern Ehlers (R-MI) and Mark Udall (D-CO) seeks to strengthen STEM education at all levels. This briefing will provide an opportunity to hear how STEM literacy impacts all companies and institutions, from their mailrooms to accounting to customer service. Further, STEM Literacy impacts the consumer's ability to make informed decisions on a variety of important issues, e.g. on adjustable rate mortgages. Speakers include:
