AFP has been extremely active as a voice and advocate for
corporate treasury and finance professionals on legislative and
regulatory issues that directly impact our members. In addition to
the efforts of AFP staff, members of AFP's Government Relations
Committee (GRC) play a critical role in advocating on behalf of the
profession and developing policy positions to ensure that voice of
financial professionals is considered throughout the various policy
debates.
The mission of the GRC is to formulate AFP's public policy
positions and to advocate those positions to government officials,
standard setters, the media, and other associations. The GRC
provides professional and technical expertise to policy makers on
issues of interest to corporate treasury and finance professionals.
The GRC membership consists of corporate treasury and finance
professionals with specialized operations, technical and legal
expertise.
Members are drawn exclusively from the corporate practitioner
rank of AFP. The GRC holds two meetings per year-a fall and spring
meeting in Washington, DC. In addition, members meet during AFP's
annual conference and are encouraged to attend a luncheon held in
their honor.
If you are interested in serving on the GRC, contact Jeanine
Arnett, AFP's Director of Government Relations & Public Policy
at jarnett@afponline.org. You
will need to submit a brief statement about why you would like to
serve on the GRC and what you could contribute to the group. Also,
please be sure to attach a copy of your resume/CV for
consideration. Appointments to the committee will be made in
January 2013.
