When Japan lowered its corporate tax rate last month, the U.S.
became the country with the highest effective corporate tax rate in
the world.
AFP has been active on the issue of corporate tax reform and it
is a top legislative priority. We are forming a task force to
advise our advocacy efforts and to assist in the formation of
policy positions on corporate taxation, including effective tax
rates and shifting to a territorial tax system.
The Corporate Tax Reform Task Force is now accepting volunteers
and is open to interested senior-level corporate members who will
be charged with the responsibility of advising AFP on policy
relating to corporate tax reform, and provide insight as to what
effective reform should look like. This group, in conjunction
with AFP staff, will assist in the formation of comment letters,
white papers and articles. Members of this Ad Hoc Task Force
may also be offered opportunities to speak on behalf of AFP's
position to the press and policy makers. Interested
individuals should contact advocacy@AFPonline.org.
