LAS VEGAS - AFP Annual Conference attendees have the opportunity to be part of AFPAware Community Service Day and give back to the community hosting the biggest event in treasury and finance. BBVA Compass is the sponsor of AFPAware Community Service Day for the fourth consecutive year.

This year, AFPAware volunteers are preparing for HallOVeen at Opportunity Village, an organization serving people with intellectual disabilities in the Las Vegas community. AFPAware volunteers are helping to clean the park, restock items for the event, put together sponsor packets, and sort tickets. Once it opens, HallOVeen visitors will enjoy rides, watch a monster parade, pick pumpkins and more.

HallOVeen is part of Opportunity Village's Magical Forest. Now in its 22nd year, the Magical Forest raises money for Opportunity Village's Project Pride, which serves the most severely disabled individuals who need 24-hour care. "One-hundred percent of the proceeds raised during the Magical Forest goes back to Project Pride," said Sandy Ellis, Operations Administrative Coordinator for Opportunity Village.

Participate in a Paintfest

The Foundation for Hospital Art's mission is to give comfort and hope to those who suffer in hospitals by providing them murals at no cost in order to soften the experience for patients, families and hospital staff.

The murals for the Paintfest are pre-drawn by Foundation for Hospital Art artists and color coded. Attendees have the opportunity to paint during the opening exhibit hall reception on Sunday, exhibit hall hours on Monday and exhibit hall hours on Tuesday until 2 p.m.

Murals are displayed and presented during the closing general session. The murals are touched-up, signed to acknowledge the sponsorship and then donated to hospitals around the country to soften the experience for patients, families and hospital staff.

Paintfest is sponsored by BBVA Compass. "We have seen an increase in volunteers for the Community Service Day and Paintfest since our sponsorship began," said Nanette Crocker, BBVA Compass Corporate & Investment Banking, Treasury Management Executive Director.

In addition to these activities, BBVA Compass will present Opportunity Village a check for $5,000 at the Tuesday General Session and another $1,000 dollars to sponsor a tree and transportation for school children to visit the Magical Forest.
