AFP Announces U.S. Comptroller General David Walker to Speak at 2007 AFP Annual Conference
Bethesda, MD – June 19, 2007 – The Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) is honored to have David M. Walker, U.S. Comptroller General and Head of the U.S. General Accountability Office, address thousands of the country's top finance and treasury professionals at AFP's 2007 Annual Conference in Boston this fall.
"This will be a unique opportunity for our attendees to have a front row seat for the nation's foremost financial authority on America's economic health," said Jim Kaitz, CEO and President of AFP.
Currently on a national "Fiscal Wake-Up Tour", Mr. Walker addresses fiscal irresponsibility as the biggest threat to the United States; he calls it "a fiscal cancer". His simple yet penetrating message is that "We're spending more money than we make, charging it to our credit cards, and leaving the bill for our grandchildren to pay."
Mr. Walker became the seventh Comptroller General of the U.S. and began his 15-year term in 1998.
David Walker will be appearing at the Tuesday Afternoon General Session of AFP's Annual Conference on October 23, 2007. The conference will be held in Boston from October 21-24.
