Association for Financial Professionals Acquires gtnews

Acquisition recognizes the increasingly global nature of the finance profession

BETHESDA, Md., -- The Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) announced today its acquisition of gtnews, an on-line resource for the treasury and finance community. Based in London, gtnews.com includes over 2,500 articles, special reports, surveys and guides that are used by more than 47,000 financial professionals worldwide.

AFP, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, is the premier organization for financial professionals. AFP supports more than 16, 000 individual members throughout all stages of their careers in various aspects of treasury and financial management. AFP's mission is to be the preferred global resource and advocate for the finance profession.

"This acquisition recognizes the increasingly global nature of the finance profession," said Jim Kaitz, president and CEO of AFP. "We will now be able to leverage the strengths of both organizations to better meet the current and future needs of AFP members and other financial professionals for global content and a global community."

After the acquisition, gtnews will continue its current operations based in London. AFP does not expect to make any major changes to gtnews' business model. Initially, the existing management team will continue to direct activities to assure a smooth transition and to ensure that the needs of gtnews' readers and sponsors are met.

"As one of the founders of gtnews, I am pleased to have the support of an organization with the vision and strength of AFP," said Rupert Keenlyside, publisher of gtnews. "We are committed to ensuring continuity and growth for gtnews and its community."

Under the agreement between AFP and C-Stream, Ltd., a private company doing business as gtnews, AFP acquired all of the stock of C-Stream, Ltd. Terms of agreement were not disclosed.
