The mission of AFP's public policy program is to ensure that the profession's point of view on critical finance issues is factored into public discussion. AFP has been instrumental in advocating for more transparency, accountability and competition in the credit ratings market that led to the signing of the Credit Ratings Agency Reform Act, September 2006. Additionally, AFP has identified concerns with the Sarbanes-Oxley law, and works with standard setters to assure that payment and accounting rules foster competition and transparency.
