Course Description

”Beating the Odds:  Achieving Success by Learning From Failure in Strategic Decision Making” is a multi-disciplinary study of the strategic decision-making process and how and why it so often leads to failure. Participants develop fresh perspectives on the strengths and weaknesses of standard methodologies applied to this critically important business task.  They also learn new methodologies and skills that enable them to improve their strategic decision making skills.  The premise of the course is that, in order to avoid failure in strategic decision-making, one must understand its underlying causes.  The thesis is that the deck is stacked against us because the decision making process is fraught with irrationality (of decision makers), complexity (of the business environment) and uncertainty (of the future).  Learning new skills can improve the odds.
