Find basic information about the CTP with Mastery of Canadian Treasury Management. Any person holding the CTP certification can sit the CTP Canadian Module.

Canadian Mastery Module

  1. How long is the Canadian module?

The module is 50 questions, and is 1 hour.

  2. What happens if I don't pass the Canadian module?

You may apply as a re-exam to take the module during the next testing window at a cost of $55. You have 3 years from the date of your original application to re-exam.

  3. What if I can't take the Canadian module during this window, can I move it?

You may transfer to the next testing window for a cost of $20, with a limit of one transfer per application. You have 3 years from the date of your original application to successfully complete the module.

  4. If I am a CTP in the U.S., can I earn the CTP of Canada?

Yes. You would order the Canadian Treasury Management, 3rd edition (CTM), complete the registration form that can be found on the AFP web site and submit your fees. AFP will send you an ATT with all the information on how to reserve a test date and site for the Canadian module. To study for the examination, you will read certain chapters of the publication (Chapters 3,9, 14-21).

  5. Will just the Canadian Treasury Management book be sufficient for study?

All the questions for the Canadian Mastery exam will be written from the noted chapters within the Canadian Treasury Management publication. You do not have to order the Essentials of Treasury Management or the AFP Learning System: Treasury.

  6. Do I have to complete the Eligibility (employment validation) Form also?

    No.

  7. If I successfully complete the Canadian Mastery exam will I receive a new certificate?

Yes. You will receive a certificate that reads "CTP with Mastery of Canadian Treasury Management."

  8. Does taking this exam affect my recertification requirements in any way?

No. Whatever your current cycle, you remain with that cycle. There are no special requirements to maintain the Mastery of Canadian Treasury Management designation.

  9. I hold a CCM and want to earn the Canadian mastery. What do I have to do?

You first have to transition from CCM to CTP. You will not be allowed to sit the module without transitioning to the CTP. If you are a permanent CCM, once you transition to the CTP, you will have to earn 36 continuing education credits every three years. To transition, you will need to contact the Director of Certification and agree to certain terms. Once you have transitioned, you will be eligible to apply for the exam to earn the CTP with Mastery of Canadian Treasury Management.

  10. Where will the Canadian Mastery exam be given?

All Pearson VUE testing centers offer the Mastery exam.
