We will start the day with this session to discuss the important topics on the minds of retailers and what’s relevant to the projects they are working on. This session will help set the agenda for the rest of the day in terms of steering our discussion towards the areas of focus that retailers find most relevant or want to learn more about.

  • Explore new developing trends in Retail Treasury that impact you directly
  • Understand various treasury developments that retail treasury departments are focused on

9:45-10:45 a.m. --- Payments Considerations for Retailers
What are the best payments options for retailers, and what issues need to be addressed? In light of resent security breaches how do you protect against cyber fraud? Is EMV the way to go, or should the focus be on leapfrogging to new forms of payment acceptance tools, and what would they be? Can EMV be bypassed with what is currently out there, and would these payments options be practical? Also, what legal issues need to be considered regarding data ownership, etc.

  • Understand various alternative payment solutions available to retailers
  • Discuss and identify the development of an alternative payments strategy

10:45-11 a.m. --- Networking Break

11 a.m.-12 p.m. --- Cash Handling Operations - Best Practices and Latest Trends
In this session discuss what the latest trends are in armored car service, virtual vault services and deposit tracking. Hear from your fellow retailers on their store pickup schedules, change orders and cash room operations process. Much of the focus will be spent on treasury’s role in the cash handling process within the organization and where Treasury leads in the process.

  • Discuss the latest trends in management of store operations and cash handling techniques
  • Identify alternative solutions or products to put in place to make your operations run more efficient

12-1 p.m. --- Networking Lunch

1-1:45 p.m. --- Bank Relationship Management
Learn how other retailers work their banking providers, structure their bank group for both strategic and operational needs, along with managing multiple relationships that aren’t part of their bank credit group. Discuss how technology and tracking bank information in light of recent regulations can improve your operational efficiency across different bank providers as well.

Field of Study: Social Environment of Business

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss how working with your banking partners makes your treasury operations more efficient
  • Learn how other companies manage their bank relationships and develop strategies for doing so

1:45-2 p.m. --- Networking Break

2-3 p.m. --- Liquidity Management and Structure
Share with your peers some of the challenges around cash forecasting, how you’ve overcome them, tips on making forecasting a better process and new/different technologies implemented to help. We will also discuss investment options, alternatives to bank deposits and money market funds in light of any announced changes by the SEC. A focus on capital planning and capital structure will also be shared.

  • Learn how to manage cash balances in a low interest rate environment
  • Discuss with your peers on alternative solutions for cash investment post any potential announced MMF changes

3-3:30 p.m. --- Recap and Outlook
Discuss what was learned during the day—the challenges that lie ahead and where you plan to focus your efforts for the coming year.

  • Discuss the takeaways for the day and the 1 or 2 items you’ll bring back to the office and implement
  • Develop a plan to connect or network with other attendees on topics shared during the day
